You will see
- Spectacular scenery
- The real-life Hobbit Village, as it appeared in the movies
Hobbiton Village is at least a 60 minute drive from the Port of Tauranga. Tours usually depart every hour or on busy days at shorter intervals. You must check in at the "Shires Rest" ticket office at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time as shown on your voucher.
Boarding one of the "Hobbiton" buses with your guide, you will first travel through the working farm and down into a hidden valley. From here you will walk through the actual movie set for 90 minutes, viewing up close the actual Hobbit holes used in making the movies.
The tour ends at the Green Dragon Inn where you will receive a complimentary glass of Hobbit Ale and there is also chance for you to purchase a light snack while enjoying the atmosphere of the Inn.
There are spectacular views across to the Kaimai Ranges from the rolling green hills of the movie set, which is still a working sheep and beef farm.
Following the tour you can relax and soak up the unique atmosphere with a great cup of coffee or a light meal in The Shires Rest Cafe, which is also available for functions, conferences or other occasions. Visit The Shire Gallery for some special souvenirs to remind you of your visit.
We very much look forward to welcoming you to the Hobbiton Movie Set & Farm!
