A Wellington Snapshot Tour

Get a snapshot of New Zealands' capital city

Join our morning or afternoon snapshot tour to see the main capital city sights, such as Mt. Victoria, the government buildings [old and new], Old St.Pauls church, Oriental Bay, plus a ride up the famous cable car, leaving you time to explore Te Papa Museum at your leisure.

WLG-5 | 3.00 hrs | Adults NZ $55.00 | Children NZ $55.00

You will see

  • Government Buildings
  • Mt Victoria
  • Old St Pauls Church
  • Oriental Parade and Harbour
  • Te Papa National Museum
  • Wellington Cable Car

After meeting your driver at the cruise ship terminal, its just a short ride to Wellington's famous Cable Car. Your ticket is included and at the top station there is time to take in the stunning views of the city below.

Our coach then meets you for the trip back down to the city to see the Beehive [our current government offices] plus the Old Government buildings, which is the largest wooden building in New Zealand and has been carefully restored. We also visit the Old St.Pauls church, another landmark of the city with its beautiful wooden interior.

A tour of Wellington would not be complete without a drive around the harbour and along Oriental Parade, which leads us to the start of the steep climb up to Mt.Victora for views and photos of the city and harbour far below. A clear day will allow us to view the tip of the South Island across the Cook Straight perhaps.

Back down into the city our last stop is at the National Museum of Te Papa, if you wish you can leave the morning tour here to spend time at the museum or city centre, both just a short taxi ride [$20] or a 20 minute walk along the waterfront back to the ship. Otherwise we will return you to the ship.

How do I get back to the tour ship if I leave the tour at Te Papa?

You can either walk back [it is about 2.5 kilometers] or you could catch a taxi [about $15 to $20 NZ]. The coach driver will give you the details.

If I book this tour as an "exclusive" private tour, can we change the start time

No, as the tour operates both morning and afternoon trips we have to keep to the times as standard. We can offer "Private" tours though, so please contact us for details if these are required.

Can we look around the city and museum before the afternoon tour?

Yes, this is possible but the pickup point for the tour is at the cruise terminal, so you will need to make your own way back to join the tour.

How much does the Te Papa Museum entry cost?

It is free but a small donation is a good idea and helps to maintain this great resource for all.
